Nakasuji Family Former Residence was the “ojoya”(gonernmental head of a group of municipalities), which was in charge of administration in this area in the late Edo period. The main building (Omoya), built in 1852, is one of the largest large private houses in the Kinokawa river basin, and the east side of the site faces the Kumano Kodo. It is also recommended for photographers sice you can take pictures inside the building. The fashionable fittings and the layout that the wind blows through feel like a sophisticated design even for modern-day people.
