It is designated as Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Wakayama Prefecture, and is performed with the spirit of prayer and gratitude to God. There are two types of dances, one on the ground and the other on Danjiri, and both of them are known for their brave performance. In particular, the Danjiri dance, which is performed about 5 meters above the ground, is performed by a male lion on a green bamboo stage to the sound of flutes, drums and bells. The intensity of their movements is so powerful that it is impossible to take your eyes off the stage.
