The torii gate and the main shrine’s torii gate are beautiful. The shrine has long been worshipped by women because of the gods it worships.

We went to Awashima Shrine in the rain. The shrine is known for its doll offerings. There were many dolls, including hina dolls and Maneki Neko “fortune cat”, displayed in the shrine precincts.

He is a travel blogger who is living in Taiwan. The blog mainly shares the travel experience of Asian countries. The "homemade travel map" is the biggest feature of the blog to attract readers. The travel map has been downloaded by more than 300,000 people so far. Walking will leave "footprints", because only with your feet can you experience each story and every journey more deeply.
He've been to Wakayama City, from 8th to 10th January in 2020.

Awaji Shrine, also known as 加太Shrine, is one of the oldest shrines in the area. The shrine mainly worships the god of medicine 少彥名命, which is famous for healing women’s diseases, body healthy, and peaceful birth; it also worships the god of marriage 「大己貴命」, so it attracts many men and women to pray for good destiny.

However, in fact, the most famous in 淡嶋神社 is the “humanoid” (meaning: puppet) that enshrines more than 20,000 in the shrine. It is said that as long as a princess is born in 紀州的徳川家u, this shrine will worship the puppet. These puppets are scattered throughout the shrine’s park. Every few steps you can see puppets or decorations with different themes on the ground.

The reason why there is such a special tradition is because the Japanese believe that all human beings are alive, so when you no longer look at him to flow around you, you ca n’t directly discard it. You have to wait every year like 「松焚祭」 such a festival, or brought it to the 淡嶋神社 shrine

In fact, there are not only puppets here, but also all kinds of “human figures” can be found. Like the lucky cat along road, it may be the result of the worship made by many merchants in the past. BTW, because it is so special, Universal Studios Osaka even cooperated with 淡嶋神社 Shrine to build a Japanese style haunted house during Halloween.

There may be incredible surprise discoveries in every corner

Finally, on the March 3rd of the year, Girls ’Festival, the 淡嶋神社 will hold a「雛流」ceremony, during which the dolls will be put into a wooden boat, and then brought to the nearby 加太港 for release, to pray for the daughter’s health. Peaceful growth.
